Fire Arch: 1973 search lights and road flares; 1 mile wide
A sixty foot diameter arch below a highway was lit with road flares and the mile wide gravel quarry on the opposite site of the arch was illuminated by a beam created by two carbon arc search lights facing each other. The beam spanned the quarry. The diameter of the beam was approximately 12'.
